Family Businesses

We believe that family businesses form the cornerstone of local industry so, as you might expect, a large proportion of our client base is made up of family enterprises.

Our specialist services and proactive involvement focuses on helping them to grow and develop, building on the success of the founder while structuring innovative ways to hand that success on to future generations.

The process is not always an easy one and there is certainly no blueprint or “ten point plan” for success, however with statistics showing that only 4% of businesses in the economy are inherited, our focus is to work with our family business clients to ensure that they are successful in their succession plans.

We are also working very closely with John Tucker at the International Centre for Families in Businesses.  For more information about the Centre take a look at www.icfib.com/

Family Business Survey

Princecroft Willis have joined foces with the International Centre for Families in Business to organise a family business survey - which is thought to be the first survey of its kind in the south.

Key issues covered in the questionnaire include:
  • Critical challenges and succession issues facing family businesses
  • What drives owners and their businesses
  • The governance of family businesses including whether they have a business plan and a succession policy
  • The exit options, if any, of the owner(s)
As well as compiling a report of the survey findings, Princecroft Willis will be running events which tackle some of the issues identified.
