Taxation
Princecroft Willis has a substantial tax department which is led by our senior tax partner, John Belinger, who joined us from one of the big four international accountancy firms where he had been a corporate tax partner. John is therefore extremely knowledgeable on all company taxation and related matters.
He is supported by partner, Julian Smith who specialises in estate and
inheritance tax planning, and a dedicated team who have a vast range of
knowledge and experience.
We can help you with a range of taxation queries, our taxation service includes:
> The completion of self assessment tax returns for companies and individuals > The setting up of tax efficient business structures > The tax implications of buying and selling businesses > A packaged all inclusive service for individuals, which we call Privilege > Capital gains tax and inheritance tax planning > Company v privately owned cars > Trust planning and administration > VAT planning and compliance
“No
man in this country is under the smallest obligation, moral or other,
so to arrange his legal relations to his business or to his property to
enable the Inland Revenue to put the largest possible shovel into his
stores…” Lord Clyde, 1929
We subscribe to the above doctrine
expressed by Lord Clyde as long ago as 1929, in the case of Ayrshire
Pullman and Ritchie Motor Services v CIR, that a tax payer is entitled
to arrange his affairs in such a way as to minimise his or her exposure
to taxation.
Tax avoidance is, in our view, a totally legitimate
exercise although it must not be confused with tax evasion which is
clearly illegal.
Our taxation department can work closely with
our financial services team to provide co-ordinated service of the
highest calibre.
